Kim & Matt are married!
After spending Christmas in Wisconsin with family, Kim & Matt prepped for their late December wedding. On the day of their wedding, it was 50 degrees “at home” for them: Denver, Colorado. Temperatures in Madison were well into freezing, chalking it up to the coldest day of the year. It was also our coldest wedding to date! Despite the cold temps, hearts were warm and smiles were abundant.
Shortly after we met up with Kim & Matt in downtown Madison, they did their first look. These two prepared themselves with coats, scarves, gloves, boots and braved the icy cold temperatures. As photographers, we couldn’t ask for more. They were serious troops! The winds were howling off the lake but Kim & Matt kept saying “we’re getting married today”!
When we arrived at Wisconsin Brewing Company, Kim & Matt greeted their 35 guests with beers and hugs. Once everyone was there, the ceremony began in front of the beer fermenters. As Matt’s sister officiated, Kim & Matt read their own vows with teary eyes. It was intimate, sweet, quiet and beautiful. Actually, Kim said her favorite part of the day was hearing Matt read his vows.
Matt’s favorite part of the day was their first dance. A good friend of Matt’s, Mike, sang and played guitar while the newly wed couple swayed slowly. Matt sang along, serenading Kim as she smiled back at him. After the first dances, Matt joined Mike for a few songs together. They put on a little concert for their friends & family… it was awesome!
Kim & Matt had a perfect day. Their advice for future brides & grooms… Matt said, “Remember that the day is about the Bride and Groom, everything else just kind of falls into place when you remember that.” Kim added, “Decisions should be easy/(mostly) stress free. If they aren’t than they probably aren’t the decisions you want to me making.”
Side note: Yes, if you love the smell of brewing beer, this is the spot for you! All evening, we kept saying, “it smells so great in here!”
