Sarah & Jake | A Downtown Chicago Engagement

share /

Sarah & Jake are engaged! We joined them downtown Chicago for their engagement session.

The exact moment Sarah & Jake met, they don’t totally recall. It happened organically during the fall of 2010, probably in Schroeder Hall. Jake would visit Sarah regularly during her shift at the Raynor Library desk. They finally started dating (officially) in fall of 2012. What sealed the deal? Well, we have Milwaukee Brewing Company to thank for that one. After a few beers, petting a police horse and nonstop conversation it just clicked.  A week later, Jake left Sarah a cupcake from her favorite Chicago bakery on her desk in Marquette’s Student Media office. Somehow no one else ate it before she found it, and they’ve been together ever since.

In late November 2016 Sarah told Jake that they hadn’t been on a date in “FOREVER”. Regardless, Jake said something like “I’M ON IT.” On December 7, Jake told Sarah to pack an overnight bag. Somewhat confused (and intrigued), Sarah packed a bag. On December 8 Jake stopped by Sarah’s office in Chicago’s Loop, and they boarded a train to Milwaukee. Jake’s hands were super sweaty on the train, which Sarah commented on, to which Jake replied, “the train is very hot.” Once in Milwaukee, they took an Uber to the middle of Marquette’s campus, and they plopped down on a bench where they used to sit often during college (due to its proximity to Caffrey’s Pub and Jimmy John’s). After a few minutes of chatting (and Jake citing the exact total number of days they’d dated), Jake got down on one knee and proposed. Obviously Sarah said yes!

Sarah & Jake are getting married this coming April at South Second. They’re bringing up Flowers for Dreams, a local Chicago florist who is growing rapidly in the Milwaukee market. These two have awesome chemistry and we’re so looking forward to their big day!

(PS – if you haven’t checked out Flowers for Dreams yet, please do. They’re doing really wonderful things!)
